Policy

The BWA seeks to influence city and regional policymaking on matters that have implications for the walking environment. We do this by meeting with those involved in the development of policies, by lobbying, and by participating in consultation exercises.

Examples include:

  • the West of England Combined Authority’s Joint Spatial Plan and Joint Local Transport Plan. These plans will provide the framework within which physical development and investment in transport infrastructure will take place across Greater Bristol;
  • the City Council’s Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan, which will set out priorities and standards for investment; and
  • the City Council’s plans for reductions in net spending on parks and green spaces.

To get an idea of what the group does, take a look at the list of policy issues to which we have responded so far.

BWA members who would like to get involved in the work of our Policy group should contact us for details.
